Membership (OLD)

Philosophers for Sustainability is building a growing group of active members all over the world (see our map below). We would love to have you with us! Our requirements of members are as follows:

  • Commit to at least 1-2 hours a month of any activity toward stopping climate change and supporting sustainability within your work as a philosopher. This includes talking informally with your students and colleagues about climate change, integrating environmental issues into your courses or service, writing about these topics in a way that advocates change in practice, and supporting sustainability efforts on campus, as well as starting or contributing to any of our projects or others like them. What you do is entirely up to you.
  • Once a year, share with us what you’ve been doing and what you want to do next. This can be a two-line email, or more.
  • Be on an email list to receive occasional emails (at most once a week) about current and upcoming projects.

We would love for you to join us! And we would love help spreading the word, especially among philosophers of color and members of other groups underrepresented in philosophy, so that interested philosophers can join us. Please feel free to share this announcement. Everyone who actively teaches and/or writes philosophy is welcome. If you are interested in becoming a member, please fill out our Membership Form by clicking HERE. If you have any questions, please reach out by emailing us at philosophersforsustainability@gmail.com.

Membership Map

Below you will see a map of our membership; it is not complete as some members opted to not be added. If you zoom in on portions of the map, you will see more members. Please have a look around!
